Stock Market Holidays: NSE, BSE
The stock market will see a shortened trading week as the country gears up to celebrate the festival of Diwali. The markets will remain closed for the festival of lights, however, on November 1 there will be a special Muhurat Trading session held for an hour on the eve of Diwali to begin the year on an auspicious note.
Overall, in Nov, the exchanges will be closed for trading for 11 days. These holidays include weekend holidays of Saturday & Sunday, and festivals falling in the month.
The holiday list is published by the BSE on its website under the ‘Trading Holidays’ section. Investors should schedule their trades in the market keeping this list in mind to avoid any inconvenience.

While both BSE & NSE will remain closed for investors on November 1, 2024, the exchanges will hold a one-hour special Muhurat Trading session. Regular trading will be closed on Diwali, but investors will be allowed to invest in equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures and options, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB). This is a tradition followed every year by investors to mark the beginning of the new Samvat 2081 and is believed to bring in prosperity and financial growth for traders.
